Forgot your Viber two-step PIN (and the recovery email)

The PIN resets by email. Viber's 2-step verification is a PIN plus a recovery email. If you've forgotten the PIN, tap Forgot PIN and Viber sends a reset link to that email. If you can't open the mailbox, recover it first — without it, repeated wrong PINs can lock you out.

Reset the PIN with your recovery email

The 2-step PIN is reset by email, not by guessing. The route is the same in settings and when setting up a new phone.

  1. Tap Forgot PIN at the PIN screen

Wherever Viber asks for your PIN, there's a Forgot PIN option on the same screen.

    1. PIN prompt
    2. Forgot PIN
  2. Open the reset link in your recovery email

Viber emails a link to the address you set for 2-step verification. Use it to clear or change the PIN.

  3. On a new phone, confirm identity by email

After you enter your number and the activation code, Forgot PIN uses the email to let you continue the restore. If the code itself is the problem, fix that first → page2.

Can you open your recovery email?

This is the pivot. The reset depends entirely on that mailbox.

Can you open your recovery email?
Your recovery mailbox:

Use Forgot PIN

Tap Forgot PIN, open the emailed link, and set a new PIN. Then store it somewhere safe.

Recover the email first

Use your email provider's owner-recovery process. Without the mailbox, a forgotten PIN can lock the Viber account. If it genuinely can't be restored, describe exactly that to Viber Support — don't invent a bypass.

Find the address first

Check which address you configured for 2-step verification before requesting a reset, so the link doesn't go to a mailbox you can't open.

Change the recovery email or the PIN later

Once you're back in, keep both current. Changing the email requires your current PIN, and Viber confirms the new address by email.

  • Your current 2-step PIN
  • A new address you can open
  1. Open More, then tap your profile picture, and find the email field.
    1. More
    2. Profile picture
    3. Email
  2. Enter your current PIN when asked.
  3. Enter the new address and confirm it from the email Viber sends.

Keep the mailbox reachable. A recovery email you can no longer open is the single most common way owners get locked out of 2-step verification.

How a PIN reset actually works

The PIN never leaves your head; the reset leans on the email. That's why the mailbox matters more than the PIN itself.

How a Viber 2-step PIN reset works At the PIN prompt you tap Forgot PIN; Viber emails a reset link to your recovery address; you open it and set a new PIN. Without the email you can be locked out. With your recovery email vs without it

Whether you can open that mailbox decides everything:

The limits that matter

No email + forgotten PIN can mean lockout. Viber says that without access to your recovery email you may be locked out of the account. Keep that mailbox usable before you ever need it.

Five wrong PINs block activation for 5 days. On a new phone, five wrong PIN entries block activation for 5 days. Reset by email instead of guessing your way into the block.

No one sells a PIN “bypass”

The only way past a forgotten PIN is Forgot PIN to your own recovery email. There is no paid shortcut, and anyone selling one is after your money or your account.

  • They promise: “Pay us and we'll remove your Viber PIN.”There is no bypass. A real reset always goes through the email you control — for free.

We never ask for your PIN, and we can't reset it for you — only Viber can, through your recovery email.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where is the Forgot PIN option?

It's on the same screen that asks for the PIN — in settings, or when you activate on a new phone. Tapping it sends a reset link to your recovery email.

  • What is the recovery email actually for?

Viber's 2-step verification uses it specifically to reset your PIN. It isn't a newsletter address — if you can't open it, a forgotten PIN can lock you out, so keep it current.

  • I can get SMS but can't open the old email. Does SMS help?

Not for the PIN. SMS activation proves control of the number, but the 2-step PIN resets by email. Recover the mailbox with your email provider, or explain the exact obstacle to Viber Support.

  • How do I change the recovery email?

Open More, tap your profile picture, select the email field, enter your current PIN, then enter and confirm the new address from the email Viber sends.

  • I keep entering the wrong PIN. Is there a limit?

Yes. On a new phone, five wrong PIN entries block activation for five days. Use Forgot PIN rather than risk the block.

  • Can VbSpy recover my PIN?

No. Only Viber can, and only through the recovery email you control. We can't see or reset your PIN, and we never ask for it.
